AKRON, Ohio — Fire ripped through an Akron home Monday morning, destroying it and causing damage to surrounding residences, Fox 8 News reports.
It happened at around midnight in the 800 block of Chalker Street.
The Akron Fire Department responded to a home in the area after receiving several calls reporting a house fire.
Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the home. In fact, the flames were so intense that they spread to nearby homes, damaging them.
Luckily, no one in the affected homes were hurt. One firefighter, however, was taken to a local hospital for evaluation, Akron fire said.
The home where the fire originated was a total loss. Damage estimates are more than $50,000.
Fire officials are investigating a cause.
